Foreign-exchange reserves in Mauritius
Foreign currency and gold held by the Bank of Mauritius: the country's savings account in dollars.
$10.21bn
Where it stands
US$10.21 billion (Rs 485.9bn) at end-August 2026, after US$11.0bn in June: 14.4 months of imports excluding global-business services (10.5 months including them), far above the usual three-month benchmark.
What it means
Strong reserves let the central bank smooth the rupee and reassure investors and rating agencies. Right now this is one of Mauritius' strongest buffers against an external shock.
